		<description>@Ferry The Python decision was made mostly because of the ease of getting Django up and running and Google&#039;s support for it. 

The Java path is far more involved (e.g. see the 2 part series here: http://blog.newsplore.com/?p=1093). The same is true for JRuby on Rails (see http://olabini.com/blog/2009/04/jruby-on-rails-on-google-app-engine).  If I had previously worked with a Java Web Framework, J2EE, or RoR, a Java deployment would probably have been the logical choice.</description>
